Angola and Africell Hotels present Tourist Walk commemorating the International Day of Monuments and Sites
Hotéis Angola and Africell held today April 10th at Galeria 10A, a press conference to officially announce the Tourism Walk, scheduled for April 18, 2026, in the province of Benguela.
The initiative is part of the celebrations of the International Day for Monuments and Sites and aims primarily to promote local tourism, enhance historical and cultural heritage, and strengthen digital inclusion within communities.
The presentation event was attended by representatives of the promoting entities, including Africell’s Regional Director, Mário de Nascimento, and Hotéis Angola’s General Director, Jorge Nunes, among other institutional guests and members of the media.
The Tourism Walk is structured as a cultural and social experience, focused on highlighting the tourist routes of the Benguela region and encouraging community participation, while also giving visibility to digital initiatives such as the website “Destinobenguela.com”.
The activity will begin at the Africell Regional Headquarters, located at Largo África, and will end at the National Museum of Archaeology, where a moment of social interaction and networking among participants will take place. Approximately 100 people are expected to attend.

With this initiative, Hotéis Angola and Africell reinforce their commitment to the social and cultural development of communities, promoting actions that encourage the appreciation of national heritage and the growth of domestic tourism.
The Lobito Lighthouse, is an Angolan lighthouse located at the top of the cliffs on the east side of the entrance to the port and Lobito bay, in front of the tip of the restinga, north of the city of the same name, province of Benguela.
Dungo is a dry river (oued) that receives a series of tributaries, flowing into a sandy alluvial surface formed by annual discharges. These water courses over thousands of years will have made visible in various places concentrations of artefacts and cuttings probably as a result of the dismantling of carcasses of marine animals or terrestrial animals of medium and large size, such as the ancestors of ungiris or olongos (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) or even elephants, given the size of the cutting instruments. The stations were studied from the geological point of view by Dr. Mascarenhas Neto from the Angolan Geology and Mining Services in 1956, by Professor Gaspar de Carvalho who in 1960 , which collected several lithic pieces, some of which were offered to the Mendes Corrêa Museum of Anthropology in Porto. A study and publication by Dr. Carlos Ervedosa resulted in them in 1967.
