The vice-governor for the Political, Economic and Social area of Benguela, Kátia Catchuco,
suggested, this Friday, the creation of initiatives with a view to demonstrating the diversity of
opportunities for tourism in Angola and in the province of Benguela, in particular.
The person in charge made this reflection on the occasion of World Tourism Day, celebrated today (27 September), under the motto: Tourism and Peace."
In his speech, he promised the support of the Provincial Government of Benguela to the economic actors and producers of that important
segment of the economy.
"Tourism needs to be explored and more and more of your workforce to boost the national and local economy",
considered.
He recalled that great nations live from tourism and great economic empires are built.
"Today, in Benguela, there are already many academic individuals who are dedicated to the study and discovery of tourist areas
quite challenging", he said.
Kátia Catchuco invited businesspeople to invest in the sector, ensuring that there will be solutions to many challenges, such as
employability and the fight against poverty, among others, where inexhaustible benefits can be obtained.
On the occasion, university professor Norberto Baptista, one of the prolectors, addressed the main objectives of the
Tourism Development Plan (Planatur).
He pointed out the advantage of the entry of several airlines into the country.
In this regard, he expressed the need for certification of Catumbela International Airport, which, in his view, will boost
tourism in the region greatly, enabling direct flights from Europe and other parts of the world, to the province
of Benguela and create wealth.
It discriminated against the creation of tourist centers, the planning of beaches and large-scale direct investment.
They also include the development of public service infrastructures and ensuring the training of staff.
"We need to create the Angola brand, because the country doesn't have one yet", he warned.
World Tourism Day was established by the United Nations on September 27, 1980.
