Tour operator Jorge Nunes considered, this Friday, the country's participation in the 34th edition of BTL – Lisbon Tourism Exchange, an opportunity to awaken the interest of more foreign tourists in visiting Angola

Taking place from Wednesday, 28th, to 3rd March, at the FIL – International Fair Lisbon, the Lisbon Tourism Exchange has 450 exhibitors and 85 international destinations, and expects to surpass last year's 63 thousand visitors.

In an interview with ANGOP, via WhatsApp, from the Portuguese capital, Jorge Nunes, responsible for the digital platform Hotéis Angola, highlighted that the country is present at BTL with a stand under supervision from INFOTUR (Institute for Tourism Promotion), which brings together several national tour operators.

He said that the various operators, including the Hotéis Angola platform, are promoting the best of national tourism, with the aim of attracting more foreign tourists to visit the country and get to know the its attractions.

“What is effectively intended is to show an Angola that is more accessible to tourists, as they no longer need visas”, explained Jorge Nunes, in a clear allusion to the measure taken by the Government of exempt tourist visas for citizens of 98 countries to enter Angola.

With this, he pointed out, the expectation is to open the doors of the country that deserves to be visited, since it has a lot of tourist potential to be on the route of tourists from various nationalities.

High point

On the other hand, he highlighted as a highlight of the first day of the Lisbon Tourism Exchange the visit of the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to the Angola stand, where he was received by ambassador Maria de Jesus Ferreira.

“All operators had the opportunity to contact President Marcelo de Sousa and he had the opportunity to taste some local delicacies and also be honored with some offers”, he emphasized.

Furthermore, he also highlighted that several sector professionals present at the event visited the Angola stand, which continues to attract a lot of attention from participants

According to Jorge Nunes, this Friday, BTL effectively opens to the public and a great demand for the Angolan market is expected at the Angola stand.

The 34th edition of BTL has as its guest country Cape Verde, which has a prominent presence as an international destination, with Brazil being, once again, the country with the largest area of exhibition at the fair.

Other destinations are present, such as Guatemala, Venezuela, Uruguay, Vietnam, Jordan or Albania, through national tourism sectors or tour operators.

BTL's new features include religious tourism, with 14 promoters present, and activities throughout the five days of the fair. JH/CRB
