An extremely serious act was recorded in the Cuío area, in Benguela, at the base of the Kitabanga Project, this Monday, December 16. 49 nests of sea turtle eggs were stolen, totaling around 6,000 eggs, inside one of the project's maternity wards.
The Kitabanga Project, which protects 11.8 km of beach in this region, plays a fundamental role in the preservation of sea turtles, species threatened with extinction. This crime not only compromises conservation efforts but also threatens the balance of the local ecosystem .
The Coast Guard was called and was on site to monitor the case.
