Luanda - The national surf festival “SSW”, held annually (since 2013) on the surfers beach in Cabo Ledo, is nominated for the “best of lusofonia” at the “Iberian Festival Awards”, whose awards gala takes place on Saturday (14th), at the FIL auditorium, in Portugal.
This is the first surfing championship in Angola, which is making this sport popular in the country, promoting tourism in that region, especially sun or beach tourism, and providing musical, convivial, well-being and ecologically responsible experiences.
According to a note that Angop had access to today, SSW is the only Angolan competitor in the IFA, part of the International Music Festivals Forum, which currently awards 25 categories of Portuguese-speaking and Iberian events from all Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries.
Of these, the statement specifies, the best music festivals, brand activation, tourist promotion, cultural program, among others, stand out, with Social Surf Weekend (organized by Social Team Angola) nominated for “Best Lusophone and Hispanic Festival ”.
“The SSW organization is honored with the nomination and declares that without the goodwill of all the festival-goers and partners who have been giving life to this project for over 5 years, nothing would be possible.
Well, together we show that in Angola we can make it happen”, says the note. Institutionally supported by the Ministry of Tourism and the National Biodiversity Institute, the SSW became (in 2018) a registered trademark of the Cabo Ledo Tourism Development Hub which, in addition to promoting national tourism, safeguards ecological sustainability.
It appears to be an important agent in promoting this area of Luanda to catapult the growth of the country's economy, currently receiving more than 4000 festival-goers from various corners, with emphasis on the provinces of Benguela, Huila, Namibe and Huambo.
For the effusive and fascinating 4 days of activities, every year, this Angolan festival was awarded (this year) with the “Innovation Award”, by the Africa Tourism Awards, organized at the 2019 World Tourism Forum.
