Lobito - The exhibition of locally produced wheat is being one of the highlights of the Ganda agricultural and livestock fair, as part of the 55th anniversary of that municipality in the province of Benguela, ANGOP learned this Sunday.
With more than sixty exhibitors from the five municipalities of the municipality, the event is highlighting the region's potential in terms of agricultural production, logging, minerals and livestock.
According to the municipal director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, José Cumandala, wheat is being promoted intensively this year.
"This time we distributed around 114 tons of wheat seeds to farmers to promote this crop," he explained.
The person in charge informed that the municipality's agricultural potential is represented, with emphasis on wheat, beans, corn, sweet potatoes, reindeer potatoes, rice, sugarcane, bananas and citrus fruits.
The representative of Cooperativa CayondaChimboa, Ernesto Bacawewa, one of the exhibitors, attributed the greater attendance at the fair to the fact that it was announced earlier.
He said, on the other hand, that the farmers are satisfied with the institutional support received from the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), in terms of fertilizers and agricultural inputs.
Ernesto Bacawewa said that his Cooperative is made up of thirty-nine members and has an agricultural area of one hundred hectares, although they are not fully exploited.
He lamented, however, about the excess rainfall this year, which meant that the Cooperative produced only twenty-five percent of its capacity.

Cayonda Chimboa produces between 30 and 40 tons of various products.
In turn, Firmino Hondo, representative of Cooperativa Yu Chimboa, considered that this edition is better organized and has the prospect of selling more products. It's also a way of publicizing what we produce to reach more markets", he considered.
Speaking about his Cooperative, he said that, of the 150 hectares he has, only twenty are used due to lack of resources, mainly a tractor to prepare the land for cultivation.
Confirmed the receipt of fertilizers, although they were not enough for production, according to him.
"We have received some quantities, but we are often forced to turn to the market to make up for the lack of product," he said.
In terms of price, he said that he has purchased the 50-kilo bag of black 12/24/12 for 39 thousand kwanzas and the white one for 45 thousand, as it has better quality compared to the other.
