For a few hours, participants at the meeting promoted by the Provincial Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, in partnership with the Katyavala Bwila University and the Instituto Superior Privado de Angola, also discussed tourism that promotes economic diversification.

On the occasion, the university professor, Bumba de Castro, said that tourism is a branch of the economy that has several activities such as transport, food, accommodation and entertainment, and that tourism is only possible with roads, energy and water.  

The person responsible considered it necessary for tourist resources to have a specific demand and an offer that satisfies the needs of the demand. 

Bumba Castro urged the need to invest more in tourism with the creation of new spaces to attract foreign tourists and raise more currency. 

The municipal administrator of Benguela, Leopoldo Muhongo, who represented the provincial governor, Isaac dos Anjos, highlighted the growth of the sector.  

The 27th of September, World Tourism Day, which this year was celebrated under the motto “Tourism for all to promote universal accessibility”, was established in 1980 by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), coinciding with the anniversary of the adoption of its Statutes (on 27 September 1970).
