The project to Accelerate Economic Diversification and Job Creation, called Diversifica Mais, launched yesterday in Luanda by the Ministry of Planning, will finance 370 companies that develop activities along the Lobito Corridor, in addition to providing technical support to over two thousand companies.
The information was provided by the project director, Laércio Cândido, who, when presenting Diversifica Mais yesterday, declared that, after having started last year, the operation is implemented until 2029, to increase private investment, promote the growth of micro, small and medium-sized companies, as well as an economic and sustainable transformation along the corridor. Laércio Cândido, who presented Diversifica Mais to strategic Government partners, highlighted that the Support for the two thousand companies occurs through diagnostics and according to the needs of each one, especially with regard to the need for consultancy, taxation, accounting and others that contribute to profitability.
As it is the Lobito Corridor, which extends over more than a thousand kilometers of railway line, in a region populated by more than eight million inhabitants, with potential in the sector agro-industrial and infrastructure sector, Laércio Cândido indicated that the Executive intends to increase the value chain of the non-oil sector by around 400 million dollars, recover infrastructure, reduce the poverty rate, guarantee access to employment and boost cross-border trade.
Diversifica Mais, he pointed out, will favor companies in the food safety sector, especially those in the agricultural and product processing sectors, including the logistics chain along the Corridor. Although the project's starting point is the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico, Laércio Cândido stated that all national companies are called upon to participate.
The project director indicated that to promote profitability and attractiveness, in the first phase the parties will work on diagnosing the companies' capabilities and identifying needs, to increase levels of productivity.
The process will see the intervention of the National Institute for Support to Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) and the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC), which will have the mission of mobilizing resources with the private financial sector, through the signing of memorandums.
The FGC, announced Laércio Cândido, will receive around 80 million dollars to use in credit guarantees for Corridor projects, the 300 million obtained in financing from the World Bank.< /p>
The project has the strategic supervision of the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, and will facilitate trade operations and financial infrastructures, improve services in the regions and increase the capacity of companies, with access to credit", guaranteed Laércio Cândido.
